Steven's mission

My little brother left for Provo yesterday to start his mission to Milan, Italy. Wynn and I (and Mason Kaylee and Emma) got to be there when he was set apart as an elder. It was a really cool moment and I was so proud of him that he's lived so well and prepared for this time.

Steven and I have always been close. My step mom Lisa loves to tell the story of when she was pregnant with him and I apparently said "if it's not a girl I'm not going to love it". Now, in my defense, I don't remember saying that, and I was 7 years old. But regardless, karma dealt me a big one by giving me the coolest little brother anyone could ever ask for.

Some of my favorite memories of growing up with Steven were playing hours upon hours of nintendo games. Some of our favorites were Super Mario World, Lion King, Star Wars, Mario on N64, Sonic, Star Fox, and last but not least Zelda Ocarina of Time. We really bonded over video games and spent most summers (and during the school year too I suppose!) either swimming, playing video games or watching movies.

I had to say goodbye to him yesterday, and let's just say I'm in a little bit of a dark place right now. We have been hanging out as much as possible these last few weeks since we knew he was going, and to have him go is pretty difficult. I know he is doing the right thing, and I know he'll do amazing, but I miss him so much it hurts :( He's such a great brother to me, and even more, he's been such a wonderful uncle to Mason. He's so patient with him and plays with him anytime we come over. He has babysit a whole bunch too, even taking Mason to school when I'm feeling too horrible to move.

He's a great person and we are so proud of him. Good luck Steven!!!
